Stephen Toblowsky is a fantastic character actor!Friend Mousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10508344668185037119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4426052636690673661.post-38503171224859794532019-12-21T04:52:30.171-05:002019-12-21T04:52:30.171-05:00I've got to say that half the fun of watching ...I've got to say that half the fun of watching Deadwood is reading these play by play witty insights of yours. Such attention to detail! You did leave out the brief scene between an engraged Hearst and a hiding helpless spineless Farnum. Hearst just spits in his face and he takes it. Usually I love Gerald McRaney, especially in Jericho, but here I just hate him for that. Bravo on a very well done series recap, it is a delight to read. I also just wanted to mute my headphones for the Jane diatribe. As for Jarry did you know he played Ned Ryerson, the insurance salesmen in the Bill Murray comedy Groundhog Day? 4u21nderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03041826131955875666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4426052636690673661.post-41772091074589493172018-02-12T14:18:14.661-05:002018-02-12T14:18:14.661-05:00Thank you for pointing this out!Thank you for pointing this out!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12975968809065920127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4426052636690673661.post-39829512946806607222008-12-19T09:11:00.000-05:002008-12-19T09:11:00.000-05:00Thanks for reading (and commenting!), Brianne. I'm saving my pennies to buy the DVDs ... but I'm psyched to know that HBO is rerunning them!Friend Mousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10508344668185037119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4426052636690673661.post-83248382923338472362008-12-19T04:07:00.000-05:002008-12-19T04:07:00.000-05:00I'm so glad you did these recaps - I'm just going ...I'm so glad you did these recaps - I'm just going through season 3 now, as they are being replayed nightly on HBO. I find that sometimes I miss something that someone else might have caught or better understood, so these recaps are great :) Thanks for doing them!

I agree about the actors storyline too - much as I adore Brian Cox, the whole thing is boring and pointless though they probably had a much longer arc planned for these guys that they didn't get to go through with.

I have to admit that I really liked the scene with Jane and Joanie though. Jane's dream was really about her realizing and understanding that all of the things she's ashamed about (the things that really make her hate herself enough to drink like she does) happened on days when she did equally as brave things, thereby counterbalancing her supposed cowardice. It was like saying that even though she has things to be ashamed of, she has just as many things to be proud of and that she shouldn't forget it. I've still got two episodes to go, but I'm hoping to see a small change in Jane at that!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
